The Hueco Rock Ranch is the best place to stay if you're climbing in Hueco. Located outside El Paso, TX, and only a mile from Hueco Tanks—the best bouldering on the planet—the Ranch is the perfect spot to set up shop and hang with your fellow climbers.

Accommodations & Amenities:

  • House: There are two different booking options—private rooms with full beds and communal bunks with twin beds. We have a total of 7 rooms consisting of 4 full size beds and 12 communal bunks. The breakout of rooms is as follows:

    • 4 private rooms with a full size bed

    • 2 rooms with one twin bunk bed

    • 1 room with three twin bunk beds and two lofted twin beds

  • Campground: Sites are first come first serve and accommodate both tent and vehicle camping. All within close distance of the Barn.

  • Community Barn: The Barn offers a communal cooking area, lounge, games, books, and showers. Limited kitchen supplies are provided for communal use however please be prepared to bring your own cooking utensils, pots, spices, etc.

  • Token Operated Showers: $1 for 4 minutes. Please see staff during office hours to buy shower tokens. Please be mindful that we are in the desert, and doing our best to conserve water. Guests paying to stay in the house are able to use the showers in the bathrooms free of charge.

  • Crash Pad Rentals: Pad rentals are $10/day.

  • Wifi: Wifi is provided to bunkhouse guests.

  • Communal Fire Pit: There is one community fire pit in the middle of the campground and another at the front. Fires must be contained to the community fire pits. No fires are allowed at campsites or anywhere else on the property.

  • Laundry: Laundry is available for House guests for $3/wash. You can utilize the clothesline outside the ranch to dry your clothes. Detergent is provided for communal use. There are also several laundromats along Montana Ave.


Hueco Rock Ranch FAQs:

  • We are usually open to the public from mid-November until mid-March.

  • No, the HRR is open to everyone! There are different rates for members and non-members. Depending on the length of your stay, becoming a member can quickly pay for itself.

  • Private Rooms - Full Size Bed: Private rooms sleep up to two people- AAC Members: $40/per person
    - Nonmembers: $75/per person

    Communal Bunks - Twin Size Bed:
    - AAC Members: $25/per person
    - Nonmembers: $45/per person

    Campground:
    - AAC Members: $6/per person
    - Nonmembers: $10/per person

  • Only guests who have paid for private or communal bunks are allowed in the house. Exceptions for this may include specified community gathering events.

  • The Barn is open to the public. This not only includes guests who are paying to stay in the campground but also community members as a space to gather after a day of climbing. Please consider making a donation while utilizing this space to help support the Hueco Rock Ranch.

  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the campground as long as they are on-leash at all times. If your dog is disturbing other guests, or the campground hosts believes them to be dangerous, you will be asked to leave with no refund. Please do not leave your dog unattended. Please pick up all your dog waste! No pets are allowed in the bunkhouse.

  • There are several guide companies in the Valley to choose from. Please visit Texas State Parks website to see a full list of concessionaires in the park.

  • The HRR is a 3 mile drive to the Park.

  • We do everything we can to make it that way, but we are reliant on water delivery by trucks. For this reason, we recommend that you bring your own drinking water.

  • Yes, please check the house and barn for recycling options. Please resist the urge to get too many plastic bags at the Vista Supermarket to reduce your impact on the environment.
